Welcome to La Paillotte and La Petite Paillotte
These two spacious houses and their grounds give you everything you need for a relaxing holiday. There is plenty of space both indoor and out, large bedrooms, two terraces with a large BBQ, a swimming pool, a playroom with a 7ft billiard/ table tennis table, garden, a desk and chair (in case you need to work), books, toys and games galore...
La Paillotte is a former wine merchant's house and, across the courtyard, is its former barn, La Petite Paillotte. Together they make up a self-contained complex including a gated courtyard, enclosed garden and swimming pool. Located in Lantilly, a peaceful village less than 10 minutes drive from Semur-en Auxois, a medieval market town, they offer a relaxing and comfortable place to holiday.
The houses sleep up to 14 in total - 7 in each house. Each house has its own kitchen, dining area, lounge area and balcony. The houses offer a combination of double and single beds, making them ideal for families or groups of friends holidaying together. The fact that each house is self contained means that there is plenty of room for everyone and space to have some quiet time if required. But if you want to spend your time together, there is room for everyone to eat in La Paillotte's dining room (an extra table can be brought in from the terrace if required) or on its generous wooden terrace overlooking the garden.
Each house provides everything you need for a comfortable stay. We stay here ourselves so have tried to think of all you might need. We provide all linen including bedding, towels (bath sheet, hand towel and pool towel for each guest), tea towels, oven gloves, bath mats, iron and ironing board. The kitchens are well stocked with all cooking utensils and glasses (including plastic glasses to use by the pool), dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, a filter coffee machine and French press. There is a large BBQ including cooking utensils. In the laundry room beneath La Paillotte there is a washing machine and tumble dryer. Fans for hotter days and extra heaters for when its colder are provided in the cellar beneath the main house.
Internet enabled TVs, board games and jigsaws are provided in both houses. Garden games and pool inflatables are supplied and there is a well equipped play room in La Petite Paillotte. This has recently been upgraded and includes a 7 foot billiard/ pool table that can be converted for table tennis and a train track and lego for younger guests. Fast WiFi and excellent mobile phone reception enable you to stay in touch with the outside world.
La Petite Paillotte has a shaded terrace for use on hotter days. For chillier days, La Paillotte has an open fire and La Petite Paillotte has a wood burner. There is a store of logs in the cellar under the house. A cot can be provided and dogs are allowed by prior arrangement.
Outside there is a gravelled area to park up to 4 cars with space to turn around in the circular drive. Electric vehicles can be charged via a plug socket in the laundry room which can be reached from the parking area. There is also a lawned area and the swimming pool - all of which offer exceptional views across the beautiful Brenne valley. The pool is surrounded by a security fence. The pool area includes two large sun shades, plenty of sun loungers and a box of inflatables and toys.
At night, the remoteness of the village makes this a perfect spot for star gazing and, in August, watching meteor showers.
The area is full of charming French villages like Semur-en Auxois, Epoisses, Flavigny, Noyers, Vezelay and Gevry Chambertain. La Paillotte is a perfect base from which to explore other nearby areas whether wine tasting in Chablis, Beaune or Dijon. If you are feeling active you can enjoy the cycling or walking along the Burgundian canals or swim in the local lakes. Alternatively you can visit local attractions like the UNESCO Abbaye De Fontenay, Parc L'Auxois, Alesia-Museo Parc or the Hospice de Beaune.
